Derek Waltchack, the developer of Camp Corinth Cove, grew up in Nashville, TN .  Derek has  fond memories of summer trips as a child visiting his  extended family in the mountains of East Tennessee.  He learned how to swim and water ski on Douglas Lake, an impounded river  at the base of the Smokey Mountains. The first time Derek toured Smith Lake, he knew he would be making lasting memories with his grandchildren just as he had as a little boy.  Camp Corinth Cove is Derek’s fourth development on Smith Lake.  And like most virgin property in Winston County, it is hard to see the natural features until a good bit of the underbrush has been cleared.  Derek knew he had found a gem when he first walked the newly cleared Lot 9 and found two caves with Indian signs and a 60 foot waterfall where you can put your boat under the flow.  
 
Because the fifty acres that comprise Camp Corinth Cove is  cradled on three sides by the Bankhead National Forest, Derek envisioned a development that featured lots many times larger than the  typical Smith Lake lot.  He wanted each lot to have enough room so you could see God's extravagance in nature, hoping you'll witnes something new each time you visit.  As an homage to Derek’s  summers with his family, he named one of the roads Rainwater Trail  after his great grandfather, Chester Rainwater, Sr., himself a Cherokee  Indian.
